  2. Blocks (start with a small set and add to it over the years).   Other building materials like Duplos (large legos)
  3. * More books!
  4. Markers, crayons, and other drawing tools that are especially designed for the littlest artists.  Check out Honey Sticks made out of beeswax.
  5. Non toxic playdough.
  6. Puzzles (A few wooden inset pieces -3 at first and then more)
  7. Riding toys- No pedals work best at first.  Look for those that can grow with the child such as this one by Little Tykes:
