Baby/Toddler/Preschoolers Gift Ideas from Omi and her fellow PEEPS (Partners in Early Enrichment Program Support) at Humboldt County Office of Education
But first, some Omi notes:
* See the book list to discover wonderful books for specific ages
** Young children need close supervision. Even the safest toys can be used in ways that can cause harm. Also, make sure the toys are age-appropriate as indicated on the packaging or tags.
*** Videos and other screen-time games are not listed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends NO screen time for children under two years of age and no more than two hours a day of total screen time (videos/tv/computers/video games) for those over. Children develop and learn by interacting actively with their environment and people!
Many good toys can be found at garage sales and second hand stores. Stick to brands that you know have high safety standards. Here are some websites with many “green” and eco-friendly toy options. Have fun browsing!
