As the Clinical Director of Changing Tides Family Services, Family Empowerment Services, nothing is more important to me than children. As a father of three, nothing is more important to me than my children. Fatherhood is the hardest thing I have ever done. To me nothing is more challenging than trying to raise 3 children to be independent, self sufficient, successful, good natured, and well adjusted. Balancing the demands of work, social life, and my marriage, with basketball games, bed times, and skinned knees are a twenty four hour /365 day a year job. It can drive even the best fathers to go off the deep end.

We hear regularly how important parents’ interactions are in their child’s well-being. We know that it is not necessarily the quantity of time that a parent spends with their child, but the quality of their relationship and the quality of the time that they spend together. Research suggests that fathers play a unique role in their child’s development. Children who have active and engaged dads in their lives are better at solving problems. These children tend to face challenges and work through issues instead of walking away when they get frustrated.
